Advanced Techniques in Dr. Wisman's Chiropractic Care

  1. Videofluoroscopic Spinal Imaging: It is a moving X-ray that shows how the spine joints move and helps identify problems that still images can miss.
  2. Diversified Technique: This is a widely used manual spinal adjustment technique.
  3. Activator Method: It is an instrument-assisted manipulation commonly used in children and elderly patients.
  4. Thompson Drop-Table Technique: Performed using a specialized table whose padded sections drop slightly during the thrust.
  5. Flexion-Distraction Technique: Used to decompress the spine for disc-related problems.
  6. Gonstead Technique: A method used to pinpoint the exact vertebra needing attention.

Dr. Wisman’s Expertise & Clinical Training

Dr. John Wisman works closely with leading neuroscientist Dr. Heidi Haavik. He integrates neuroscience research into his clinical care to better understand how spinal function influences brain health, movement, and overall human performance.

Early in his career, he had the privilege of interning with the legendary Dr. Pierce, one of the most influential chiropractic clinicians of his time.

Dr. Wisman is internationally known for his experience with videofluoroscopic spinal imaging, a specialized form of low-radiation motion X-ray. It is used for patients with whiplash or injury-related spinal problems.

What Inspired Dr. Wisman to Become a Chiropractor

Dr. John Wisman’s interest in chiropractic care began during his high school years. As a competitive athlete involved in football and track, he met a chiropractor who introduced him to the benefits of chiropractic treatment for performance and recovery. He received regular treatment for three years and saw measurable gains in his athletic performance.

Dr. Wisman later received a full-ride athletic scholarship in track at the University of Northern Iowa from 1980 to 1984. His personal experience with chiropractic care influenced his decision to enter the profession and continues to shape his approach to patient care.
